Scarborough & Ryedale Community Cycling provides a unique and inclusive cycling scheme which benefits the communities of Scarborough and Ryedale.
We provide cycling opportunities for everyone, including those with a disability, those with temporary mobility issues, the elderly, those who suffer from dementia or isolation and indeed anyone else who wishes to gain the health benefits that cycling can provide.
In addition to "ordinary" bikes, we have all manner of tricycles, karts and other specially adapted machines. We transport our bikes by van and trailer in order to run events at a number of venues. Please browse through our website to see what we can offer, and you can easily get in touch with us via our Contact page.
Scarborough & Ryedale Community Cycling is a Community Interest Company and is run as a non profit making scheme.
SRCC has been accepted as a member of the Dementia Action Alliance and has been awarded the status of "Working to Become Dementia Friendly".
We rely on a team of trained volunteers to help us provide our service. Fundraising and grants also help us to maintain our presence.
In addition, we are always very grateful to receive donations of suitable cycling equipment, and cash donations are of course much appreciated. We have a "Local Giving" page where you can make a donation of any amount, no matter how small - just click the button below.
Since our first event at Gallows Close in December 2014 we have run over 150 events at a variety of locations including Woodlands Academy, Wykeham Forest, Whitby West Cliff and Sports Centre, North Bay, Weaponness car park, Oliver's Mount and the University campus.
We have travelled to York to contribute to the Dialysis Games and have put on a display at the Great Yorkshire Show. We loved the Tour de Yorkshire and the part we played in 2015 and 2016, even if it was only for the last mile! Our TV appearances on BBC Look North have been a great opportunity to raise awareness of our project which will hopefully encourage more people to enjoy this great pastime with us.
All this could not have been achieved without our brilliant volunteers who have committed so many hours of their valuable time. A big thank you to all of them. We have further exciting plans in mind - we look forward to seeing you!
